Register of Merit (ROM)

Background
In 1991, the Collie Club of Canada established the Register of Merit Canada (ROMC) program, the first program of its kind in North America, to recognize and honour the country’s top producing Rough and Smooth Collies.  The program was instituted to honour those Collies who not only produce offspring recognized in the conformation ring, but who also honour their heritage and purpose by producing offspring demonstrating the ability and desire to work.

In 1994 the “Canada” portion of the ROMC was eliminated, making it the Register of Merit (ROM) program and the Register of Merit Excellent (ROMX) program was established to recognize and honour the crème de la crème. 

All ROM and ROMX certificates are numbered and controlled.

There is a $5 fee to update each ROM(X) file.  However, if information is already in a file and has been accidentally missed in the on-line files, there will be no charge.

Background
Since 1994, Achievement Award certificates have been automatically given to owners of Rough and Smooth Collies winning a Best In Show (BIS), Best In Specialty Show (BISS), Best Puppy in Show (BPIS), Best Puppy in Specialty Show (BPISS), and a High In Trial (HIT) or earning that prestigious Utility Dog (UD) title.

Recognition
Recognition The names of all Achievement Award winners are published in Expressions and certificates mailed to CCC members and non-members, whose addresses the committee has on file. If you have not yet received a certificate and qualify send:

Champion Producer

Background
The Champion Producer program was implemented in 2002 to recognize and honour those sires and dams producing an outstanding number of Canadian Champion offspring.

Qualifications
To qualify, dogs must produce 20 or more Canadian Champion offspring and bitches 8 (eight) or more Canadian Champion offspring. There is no need to apply for ChP certificates. They are compiled by members of the ROM(X) Committee from the Official CKC “Titles Awarded” section of Dogs In Canada and automatically awarded by the CCC.

ChP Title
The initials “ChP” may be used after the name of any dog/bitch qualifying for a ChP title once the owner has received official notification from the ROM(X) committee that the name of the dog/bitch has been entered into the official cub records.

Recognition
The names of all dogs and bitches earning the title of Champion Producer will be published in Expressions and a certificate will be mailed to all CCC member owners and non-member owners whose address the committee has on file. A photo and 3-generation pedigree is included if provided by the owner.

To receive ChP certificates
If you are CCC member and own a ChP qualified dog or bitch, you will receive your certificate automatically once they are processed.

If you are deserving of a ChP and have not received it, please send the name of the sire/dam that you feel has qualified along with a listing of all Champion offspring to Marilyn Clayton at WoodruffCollies@shaw.ca or mail to Marilyn Clayton, 1299 Maple Rd., North Saanich, B.C.  V8L 5P7.
